Supplements

Whey Protein (retail cost, $44):
Foods do not contain whey protein. Whey protein provides the body with amino acids for muscle building, strength and recovery. Whey protein works as an antioxidant to boost the body’s immune system. Studies have shown that adding whey protein to a diet program and increases lean body mass tissue and will help lose more body fat. As you lose fat your metabolic rate increases and you naturally burn more calories each day. Another way that whey protein helps manage weight is by promoting satiety, or a feeling of fullness.
Paleo cleanse (retail cost $54):
The most balanced formula on the market today that will help balance phase 1 and 2 detoxification pathways and protect the liver from free radical damage. Paleo Cleanse supports the liver by supplying the nutrition needed to regulate these pathways. When we speak about enzymes most people think about digestive enzymes, however I am speaking about metabolic enzymes.
The body needs nutrition to develop these enzymes for phase 1 & 2 pathways. Vitamins such as C, E, folic acid, and particularly the B vitamins are important for phase 1 detoxification and also as antioxidants to protect against free radical damage. Paleo cleanse contains all of these plus glycine, cysteine, glutathione, that are all needed for phase 2 detoxification.
Glutathione is an important antioxidant for neutralizing the free radicals produced in phase 1 and is also required for one of the key phase 2 processes. Of course, there are other vitamins and minerals in paleo cleanse that support phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification and also help prevent free radical damage. Both pathways must be balanced to have proper detoxification.
Fiber (retail cost, $15):
Adding fiber to your daily diet is associated with numerous health benefits, including lowering rates of cancer. There is evidence that fiber lowers cholesterol and positively impacts body weight by curbing appetite. Fiber also helps with bowel function.
Irvingia ($62.00):
This formula provides a combination of nutrients that combat age-related fat accumulation. Fat cells (adipocytes) secrete a hormone called leptin that tells our brain we have eaten enough. Leptin can also facilitate the breakdown of stored triglycerides in our adipocytes via the process of lipolysis. Heavy individuals have startlingly high blood levels of leptin, indicating that their cells have become resistant to the leptin that is supposed to prevent them from putting on so many fat pounds. In a recent published study, Irvingia demonstrated a marked reduction in leptin blood levels, a reduction in appetite, followed by significant loss of body weight and inches off the waistline.
Integra-Lean Irvingia:
• Enhances resting energy expenditure at the cellular level
• Impedes dietary fat absorption from the intestines
• Slows intestinal carbohydrate absorption
• Reduces hunger
• Helps restore insulin sensitivity
• Reduces the amount of blood glucose that is converted to stored fat (triglyceride) in the cells
In a recent study of 102 overweight adults, who were given 150 mg of Irvingia twice daily and the control group was given a placebo for 10 weeks. The adults taking Irvingia lost 28 pounds and 6.4 inches from their waistlines while the placebo group lost 1.5 pounds and 2.1 inches from their waistlines.
